A second reading of a painting that was always half-amphibian.
In 2018, Julian Winchester painted Horned God. Acrylic on canvas, 40×50. He posted it to tumblr with no caption and no explanation. One of those quiet paintings that kept showing up on people's phones for years, eighteen thousand reblogs deep, most of them never knowing its name.
We stared at it long enough to see the frog inside. Something about its silhouette felt amphibian from the start.
$HORPE is not a parody. Not a remix. It is a recognition of the frog that was always there.

We wrote to Julian before anything else. Not to ask for permission to meme him, but because we respect his work and wanted a way to send fees back to the artist whose painting made all of this possible.
He wrote back. He gave his blessing on using his paintings. That is the only foundation this project needed.
The god belongs to the painter.
Everything that follows is built on that.
"Made with Julian Winchester's blessing."
